1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using DevRecorder ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

DevRecorder provides a Chrome extension and web platform that allows developers to record their screen alongside browser console logs, network requests, and navigation events. Recordings are stored securely and can be shared via links.

3. Account Registration

  • You must sign in using a valid Google account
  • You are responsible for all activity under your account
  • You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service
  • One person may not maintain more than one account

4. Data We Capture

When you create a recording, DevRecorder captures the following data from the active browser tab:

  • Screen video: A video recording of the selected tab or screen area
  • Console logs: Messages logged to the browser console (log, warn, error, info, debug levels), uncaught errors, and unhandled promise rejections
  • Network requests: URLs, HTTP methods, status codes, and request/response bodies (JSON, text, XML, HTML under 100KB) captured via Fetch and XMLHttpRequest interception
  • Navigation events: Page URLs visited during the recording session

Sensitive data redaction: DevRecorder automatically redacts known sensitive fields (passwords, tokens, API keys, credit card numbers, SSN, authorization headers, private keys) from network request/response bodies before data leaves your browser.

5. Data We Do NOT Capture

DevRecorder does not collect:

  • Passwords or form field inputs (form submissions are not intercepted)
  • Keystrokes or mouse movements
  • Cookies, localStorage, or sessionStorage contents
  • Browsing history, bookmarks, or data from other tabs
  • Data from websites when you are not actively recording
  • Files on your local machine or clipboard contents
  • Data from other browser extensions
  • Binary response bodies (images, videos, PDFs, etc.)
  • Response bodies larger than 100KB

6. Your Responsibilities

  • You are responsible for ensuring you have authorization to record content on the websites you visit
  • Do not record sensitive data such as passwords, credit card numbers, or personal data of others without consent
  • Do not use the Service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
  • Do not attempt to reverse-engineer, modify, or interfere with the Service
  • Public recordings are visible to anyone with the link — share responsibly

7. Plans and Payment

  • DevRecorder offers free and paid plans
  • Paid plans are billed through Polar and are subject to our Refund Policy
  • We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days notice
  • Free plan usage is subject to storage and recording limits

8. Intellectual Property

You retain ownership of all recordings and data you create. By using the Service, you grant DevRecorder a limited license to store and serve your content as necessary to provide the Service.
